Thara had been a moderator of the UCC Alumni
Forum from almost from the beginning. She had been teaching at UCC for
over 16 years. As the spokesperson from the
college, she probably posts more messages than anyone else. She is
one of the most academically accomplished persons I have met.
If we write everything she has accomplished, it will take several pages.
So, we will shorten it. Thara
joined UCC due to her love of the college. Her grandfather was the first
batch student of UCC, a person who truly inherited the founding
impulses. When she was young, her
grandfather used to bring her to UCC campus. She ran around the campus
virtually unhindered by anyone. (She was the only child.) Soon, the little girl virtually
knew every tree and shrub in the campus. She started dreaming about
spending time under the shades of those powerful trees. Isn't it amazing
that later on she will be part of a struggle to save the Mahogany trees
that stood guard near the UCC entrance gate! Thara shared with me that
one of the most cherished moment in her life was when she, while working
as the convenor of UCC alumni directory, found her grandfather's name in
the first review register of the college.
Thara also has the distinction of being the first Ph D in Botany
from MG University.
