We salute the Women's Hockey Team. As the year
2008 comes to an end, they have really given us a huge Christmas and New
Year's present.
Our UCC womens'
hockey team have won the gold medal in the South West inter university
Hockey Tournament, representing Mahatma Gandhi University. Of the
fourteen members of the team, eleven were UCC girls. ( South West means
they won half of India. This crown is coming to us after 14 years!!!)
In the last week of December they will be representing
MG University in the All India Tournament at Kurukshethra University.
We wish them the very best.
We extend our congratulations to all team members,
coach Mr. M.V.Simon and the Team Manager Mr. Anil Thomas Koshy, Head of
the Department of Physical Education. We also acknowledge the inspiring
support from Dr. Bindu Unni, our new faculty in Physical education.
The Parent Teacher Association ( lead by Dr. P.
Thomas Mathew ) arranged a meeting to honor the team. The Principal
presided over the function and gave away the mementos.
Remembering and thanking the training they
got from their coach and teachers, the team members also thanked the men
hockey team of UCC for providing them a chance to play with them every
day, they consider this to be one of the remarkable opportunities which
led them to success.
