Celebrating 90 Years of UCC's Glorious Past

Navathi Projects

During the Navathi year (2010-2011), the college will be launching a number of innovative projects to commemorate this landmark event. The following are some of them:
1. Creating an e-learning portal or Knowledge Management System or Digital Repository

Objectives

Create web-based (e-learning) material [Specifically focused on Mahatma Gandhi University Curriculum] and make it available in the form of a portal that would be tailored to meet the needs of students across the state.

Make e-learning material available in the web to supplement class room teaching.

2. Chronicling the 90-year old legacy of Union Christian College in Education, Nationalism, and Ecumenism

Objectives

Situating Union Christian College in Time and Space. This is not just a history, but a complete life experience of a great institution visited by Mahatma Gandhi in the days of the freedom struggle. The project envisages an unfolding of its history in the colonial and post-colonial phase through recording and interpreting voices, visuals and letters. Examining the impact of this institution in fostering religious harmony in a pluralistic society is another facet of this project.

3. Constructing a Library which inspires study

Objective

Provide an ambience to inspire students and faculty to delve into the depths of Knowledge and understand and sustain the joy of life-long learning.

4. Constructing an Academic Block for the Basic Sciences and Humanities

Objective

Applied Sciences and Technologies cannot survive long without continued progress in basic sciences. Similarly, effective addressing of socio-political issues needs deeper understanding of humanities. The proposed Academic Block is aimed at facilitating these realities.
